We’d love you to get married in our church. Since the law changed on 1st October 2008 it is much easier to show a connection to Ruscombe or Twyford parish churches which entitles you to be married there. You can now get married in either church if one of the following 9 conditions applies to either you or your fiancée.



  1. You live in the parish

  2. You are on the church electoral roll.

  3. You were baptised in the parish

  4. You were prepared for confirmation in the parish

  5. You lived at any time in the parish for at least 6 months

  6. You have habitually attended normal church services in either parish church for a period of at least 6 months

  7. One of your parents, at any time after you were born, lived in the parish for at least 6 months.

  8. One of your parents, at any time after you were born, habitually attended normal church services in either parish church for a period of at least 6 months

  9. One of your parents or grandparents was married in the parish.

If none of the above apply, it is sometimes possible to obtain a 'Special' or a 'Common' license. For details on this contact the Vicar through the Church Office. In preparation for your wedding Banns of Marriage must be called for three Sundays running, within three months of your wedding day. This is a legal requirement of the Church of England.

  • Couples can choose from two orders of service, either traditional or contemporary

  • The current fee for a wedding is £435, but variations do apply

          Engaged Couples Weekend.........   Each year the Church runs a popular Engaged Couples Weekend, usually in February or March. Details are sent to all who arrange to be married in this parish. Couples being married elsewhere are welcome to attend, and may obtain details from the Church Office.  Format is informal discussion   .........  ' a very enjoyable morning and not at all as I expected'.  Click here to view the programme of the weekend in 2007.
