This month the theme is

Prayer-watching

The Lord looks down from heaven and sees every person.

From his throne he watches all who live on earth.

Psalm 33:13-14 (New Century Version)

Experiments in prayer

Have you tried ‘prayer-watching’? It’s like prayer-walking – but without the walking!

First, find a vantage point to watch from. It could be outdoors – perhaps a park bench, or a railway/motorway bridge. Or indoors – a café or a bench in a shopping centre. Then start to watch the people passing, with two questions in mind: ‘What does God see?’ and ‘How does God feel?’ Let your insights lead you into prayer…

In a group

Agree that you will each try some prayer-watching before your next meeting. (It might be helpful to discuss possible vantage points.) Then share your experiences and turn it all into prayer together.

Persistent prayer changes me by helping me see the world, and my life, through God’s eyes.’

Philip Yancey

Spirit of Christ, sanctify me.

Accept and transform

my small energy of desire,

that it may become

part of your great energy of desire

for the redemption of the world.

Your will be done!

Evelyn Underhill
