Garden of Remembrance

A Garden of Remembrance is being planned for St Mary’s churchyard in Twyford. Subject to the necessary approval from the Oxford Diocese, it is hoped that construction will begin this autumn. The garden, designed by Alison Tipping of ALDA Landscapes Ltd, is circular with paths forming a cross and will be situated at the back of St Mary’s church, in front of the Church Centre. The area will be surrounded by planting and enclose four beds where ashes can be gently scattered and then lightly covered with earth. Seated areas will give views across the garden and down over the main churchyard. The garden will provide an area for the community to have a special place to remember their loved ones. There will be no individual memorial stones but a Book of Remembrance will be on permanent display in St Mary’s church. Plans of the proposed garden are currently on display at the back of St Mary’s Church, Twyford. If anyone would like to make a donation towards the purchase of a plant for the garden, do come and have a look at the plans, or contact St Mary’s Church Office (0118 934 4792). |
