Sunday School (every  Sunday during school term time)

The Little Sunday School is for pre-school children aged 31/2-51/2.  This group meets in a downstairs room of the church cottage, in an appropriate snug environment - the large church hall can seem rather overwhelming to little ones!

51/2-10 year olds (inclusive) meet in the church hall, where there is sufficient room to split into smaller groups for special projects, or join together for communal activities and for worship. Back to Youth Programmes Page

Seekers (every Sunday during school term time)
Seekers (aged 10 upwards) meet upstairs in the church cottage, where they have their own notice board, storage, etc.  Seekers do also join the 51/2-10s occasionally for singing, particularly when rehearsing for a specific church service.

The Seeker group also meets for social activities approximately every six weeks.  They have been bowling,  canoeing on the river at Marlow, had a table tennis and games evening, and visit the cinema.  Occasionally they come along to help at a car washing session, to help raise money for their various activities.

Some of our older teenagers have become involved in the local ecumenical 'cell' groups, which provide peer group led sessions including Bible study, discussion, prayer and worship.  Back to Youth Programmes Page

Lighthouse (Summertime week-long event sponsored by local churches)
Lighthouse, a locally run children’s Christian week, takes place in the summer each year.  It is organised by Christians from all the local churches, and aims to offer children the opportunity to get to know Jesus, and to discover His great love for them.  Holy Trinity Prestwood is one of the many churches which support the event with a range of help and input.

Lighthouse is run entirely by volunteers, though the organisation does now have to hire in some skilled personnel, e.g. the sound crew.  The preparations for each year begin immediately the previous year finishes, and the organisers remain indebted to many people who give up a lot of their time to ensure that everything is in place to help things run smoothly.

Lighthouse started in the Prestwood Methodist church hall in 1987.  There were about sixty children attending during the week.  Now the whole of Buryfield, a municipal open area of several acres in Great Missenden, is almost completely covered with anything up to a dozen large marquees; each year, the organisers expect around 1,800 children to register for the week.  Furthermore, separate similar Lighthouse programmes are run, in the same week, at four other localities.  Lighthouse became a charitable trust some four years ago.  For information regarding helping or attending please call in to your local  church (for helpers, from Easter onwards, and for children, from summer half term onwards).
