Gatehouse

As many of you will know, we are one team providing food to the Gatehouse in Oxford on a four-week cycle. Each evening, 6 nights a week, around 80 guests who are homeless or poorly-housed visit the Gatehouse where hot drinks, sandwiches, cakes, fruit and, in the winter, home-made soup are available. All the food we provide is greatly appreciated by the guests.

Sandwiches and cakes are delivered to the collection point (Sarah Karatzios at 60 Cherry Close) by 4pm on the rota date (which is given in the calendar in the Sunday notices sheet, and is on the web). Besides made-up sandwiches and cakes, any items for making drinks or extra sandwiches are very welcome: tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, packet soups, jam, peanut butter, pickle, tinned tuna or ham etc., but please remember that there are no cooking facilities. Non-perishable goods can be delivered to the collection point or left in the boxes in the churches on the previous Sunday.

Then two people drive together into Oxford with all the donations in the early evening - we have a rota for this which usually means that each pair only has to do this once a year.

If you would like to join the team, either making sandwiches or cake or delivering the food, then please do contact me as I will shortly be producing a new rota with dates for the coming months. Copies of the rota will then be available in the churches for all existing contributors, but do let me know if you would prefer to receive it by email.
