NoticesJump to: General NoticesTRAVELOG No 1 FROM ANTHONY AND KATHRYNJust a short note. We are settling into life here. The first weekend has been interesting and they seem to have made some progress on the HIV and Aids front. They are talking about it and visiting those with the disease. We had two services on Sunday, both focusing on Aids, one at All Saints and one at an outstation taken by another priest who specialises in HIV etc. Hope all is well. Love Anthony & Kathryn.TRAVELOG No 2 FROM ANTHONY AND KATHRYNWe have had an eventful week so far. We drove to Kimberley on Monday and stayed with the Bishop with whom we had some really good talks. We realise that there are enormous challenges that face this diocese, not the least being the shortage of money, proper accountability for money that is given and the problem of the relationships between black and coloured people. After Kimberley and a visit to the Big Hole we drove across to Kuruman which is very different and the place we stayed was in a very poor village with a most impressive Black Priest and his wife who too was wonderful. We are back in Mafikeng and I am finding that Fr. David is beginning to talk to me in a way that he has never done before. We are looking forward to seeing Eleanor on Sunday. Love Anthony and Kathryn.SPONSORSHIP SOUGHT!I am seeking to raise funds for a month's trip to China in 2009, to work in community projects in the Sichuan region. This is part of a World Challenge Event. As part of my fund raising campaign I am taking part in a 15km run and would welcome any support in the form of sponsorship for this event. Any contribution would be very welcome and much appreciated. Sponsorship forms are in the refectory or can be obtained from me, or my parents Robert and Jill Buckeldee. The Easter season brings us face to face with the realities of life and death, and the heart of our faith story. What happened at Easter? What led to the tentative and miraculous development of a band of disciples seeking to follow the Way of self-giving love. We will be reading the gospel accounts of Jesus's death and resurrection - Matthew 28; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24; John 20 and 21; and Paul's writing that chronciles the early church's explanation of what happened and what it means for followers - eg Romans 5; 1 Cor 15; Phil 2:1-11; Colossians 2 and 3 Come and join us.
