NoticesJump to: General NoticesCHURCH SERVERS WANTEDThere are vacancies for adult servers at St Mary's. If anyone is interested please speak to John Amor.GATEHOUSE SUPPORTERSI am helping Janet Hillsdon with Gatehouse arrangements and have various things to pass on. We have been asked to adjust our rota dates to fit better with other contributions, from now on our date will be every fourth Thursday (i.e. not necessarily the last Thursday in the month), starting with Thursday 14th February, which is a week earlier than the original rota. A new rota with revised dates for the next few months will be available shortly in the churches; if you would prefer this to be sent by email, then please let me know. If anyone is interested in joining the rota, providing sandwiches/cakes or delivering to the Gatehouse, then you would be very welcome as our number has dwindled over recent months. All the food we provide is greatly appreciated by the guests at the Gatehouse. Besides made-up sandwiches and cakes, any items for making drinks or extra sandwiches are very welcome: tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, packet soups, jam, peanut butter, tinned ham etc., but please remember that there are no cooking facilities. Non-perishable goods can be delivered to the collection point (Sarah Karatzios at 60 Cherry Close) by 4p.m. on the rota date or left in the boxes in the churches on the previous Sunday. There are many jobs that can be done by all ages as follows: Help with setting up and dismantling Help with Refreshments, preparing and clearing up only. BBQ - needs a small team to prepare, cook and clear up. These jobs would only take an hour of your time in the morning or afternoon. We feel this is a really important event and a great opportunity to meet the Parents who come to join in at the end of the week and this is also very often the only connection some of the children have with the church. Please give this prayerful consideration and if you can help in any way, we are having a meeting on Monday March 3rd at 8pm in the Methodist Church Hall or please phone Marilyn King on 376700.FOOD FOR THOUGHT 4th MarchThe lunchtime bible discussion group will be meeting again on Tuesday 4th March 2008 beginning at 12 noon until 2pm, at St John's Vicarage. Carried over from last time we begin an exploration of Job. The book of Job is in many ways one of the most relevant books of the Bible. It airs the problem of undeserved suffering. Why do bad things happen to good people? The news of all the disasters that had fallen on Job came to the ears of three of his friends... they sat there on the ground beside him for seven days and seven nights. To Job they spoke never a word, for they saw how much he was suffering. But they didn't stay silent... This time we are covering Job chapters 1 to 14. Come and join us. Bring sandwiches with you, drinks provided.THE 20TH ANNUAL SECONDHAND BOOK SALE 8th Marat the Kidlington Methodist Church, Saturday 8th March 2008 from 10am to 4pm. The next meeting will be on Wednesday 12th March from 7.30pm to 9pm at St John's Vicarage, when we will be reflecting on the practices of Lent and Easter.
