ECUMENICAL LENT GROUPS
Churches Together in Kidlington is again organizing discussion groups this Lent. The course to be followed is the York Courses Lent 2008 course on "The Lord's Prayer: praying it, meaning it, living it". There is a course booklet for all participants, for which you will be asked to pay £3 except in cases of hardship, as well as a CD plus transcript for each group, which contains a discussion starter introduced by Dr. David Hope, with contributions from Bishop Kenneth Stevenson, Canon Margaret Sentamu, Dr. David Wilkinson, and Elaine Storkey.

There is a sheet in both churches to sign up to participate in a group. Please provide contact details (email if possible) and note which day(s) of the week would be possible/impossible for you and whether you prefer evenings or daytime. Please also note if you would be willing to host and/or lead a group. The course lasts 5 weeks and all groups will start in the week beginning 11th February, but if you know you are unlikely to manage every week, that does not matter: still sign up. Please sign up by Sunday, January 27th if possible, or at the very latest by Sunday, February 3rd.

There will also be forms available to sign at the Fellowship Meal on Jan 23rd, as well as some copies of the course booklet if you would like to have a look at it before committing yourself. For further details, or an advance copy of the booklet, please contact Sue Mills, on tel. 376546 or email sue.mills @ ntlworld.com .

FOOD FOR THOUGHT Jan 8th
The lunchtime bible discussion group will be meeting again on Tuesday 8th January 2008 beginning at 12 noon until 2pm, at St John's Vicarage. We begin a new calendar year by looking at a striking New Testament document in the letter of James. Condemned roundly by Martin Luther, this is writing that pulls no punches in addressing such practical issues as care for the poor, controlling your tongue and unjust discrimination. Pure, unspoilt religion, in the eyes of God the Father, is this: coming to the help of orphans and widows in their hardships, and keeping oneself uncontaminated by the world. Come and join us. Bring sandwiches with you, drinks provided.
MUSIC ON MONDAYS 14th Jan
AT ST MICHAEL AT THE NORTH GATE. Our first performer of the New Year on Monday 14th January is Max Moonlight, a very talented guitarist you may have heard out in the street. Max will be playing tunes from the '60s. As usual the concert starts at 1pm. Tea and coffee will be served also. Hope to see you there. Further information on future musicians will be available at the church.

  • 11th March.
We will be meeting at Amey and Tom's house which is off of Water Eaton Lane. Please call Amey or Tom on 371698 for directions or pick up a map from the table in church.
