In 2007 and 2008, St John's is celebrating
50th year since its construction and dedication.

please see the
St John's 50 pages.

LOST PROPERTY in St Mary's K
There are a number of items of clothing that have been left on the
pegs in the vestibule to the refectory. If they are not claimed by
the 22nd July they will be given to one of the local charity shops.
ST JOHN'S COFFEE MORNING Thanks Thank you to all for your
support on Saturday 17th. The total raised was £177.40. Two
raffle prizes are unclaimed on tickets 77 and 119. Please contact
375942 if you are one of the lucky ones.
OPEN CHURCHES
St Mary's will again be open to visitors this summer
on Wednesday afternoons from 2.30pm to 5.30pm and Sunday afternoons
from 12.30pm to 5.30pm. If you can help by being in church on any of
these afternoons, please enter your name on the rota. In addition to
welcoming visitors, time spent in the quietness of St Mary's is a
wonderful antidote to the stresses and strains of our busy lives. As
St Mary's is included in Simon Jenkins' book, England's Thousand Best
Churches, we can expect to receive some visitors wishing to view our
fine medieval church. Andrew Lloyd Webber set up the Open Churches
Trust so that people can visit some of the finest of the country's
churches and 'enjoy not only the beauty but also the unique history
each can extol'. On Wednesdays we would encourage two stewards to be
present. There is a set of notes about the history and architecture of
St Mary's on the table near the church door. I am very willing to
arrange a church tour if it will help. John Amor
SUMMER SUNDAY TEAS
are being served in the Refectory 3pm - 5pm each
week starting on Sunday 13th May. Come along and enjoy the delicious
home made cakes, a good way of ending a Sunday afternoon walk!

finishing with a time of reflection/prayer. Our topic for this meeting
is the biblical character of David. Why is he such a significant
figure? What attracts us about him as a character? What repels us?
What can we learn from David's story. See the books of Samuel and
Kings, the books of Chronicles, not forgetting the Psalms!
