General Notices
VISIT TO SOUTH AFRICA
Kathryn Ellis, Revd Hilary Campbell and Eleanor Williamson are due to
leave for their visit to Johannesburg and Montshiwa on Sunday, March
4th overnight. Their programme will include visits to projects run by
the Bishop Simeon Trust and they will be meeting up with Masi
Cowper. The second half of the visit will be to Montshiwa where they
will endeavour to start up similar projects to help fight HIV/AIDS,
and visit schools. They will also be introducing our own, home-grown,
"Mowana" Project - a mini-theatre using puppets made from recycled
materials. This has aroused interest from the media and there is a
possibility that the project may be featured on local television in
the coming week - so watch out! Any help offered with expenses would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you to all who have generously helped so
far. Kathryn Ellis
LENTEN CHALLENGE 2007
This year the focus for our Lenten Challenge is on stewardship of the
church. Each week, we will reflect on one aspect of our church life,
celebrating what we do now and exploring future needs and
opportunities, with the aim of challenging ourselves on our financial
commitments to our church. The Lenten Challenge will culminate on
March 25th with a Pledge Sunday, when we will be encouraged to
recommit ourselves to the support of our church.
LENT BOOKS
- Turning points the CAFOD/Christian
Aid Lent book 2007 (DLT, 2007, £4.99) short, challenging readings
for each day of Lent

Please read the notice from Anthony about

A letter to supporters of Gatehouse
Dear Friends, as we come to the end of celebrating the
Week of Christian Unity, I would like to celebrate the work of the
Gatehouse and thank you for your ongoing support. The Gatehouse has
attracted universal recognition for its work and we see that our job
is to provide evidence of the on-going love of God, even when someone
feels at the bottom of the heap. The Gatehouse project owes its
existence to the work of Churches Together in Oxford. We have over 200
volunteers helping in the café and as many more supplying wonderful
food. But in 2006 our expenditure was more than our income, the
shortfall being covered by our reserves. We are therefore asking all
churches if they could review the level of their giving in 2007 so
that we can close the gap in our finances. Thank you. Andrew Bunch,
Chair of Trustees.
Thank you! CTK FELLOWSHIP MEAL
Many thanks to everyone who worked so hard to
make the Fellowship Meal such a success. Your help was much
appreciated and there were many complimentary comments. Thank
you. Joyce.
BRF NOTES
Orders are now due for this year's
subscription to the Bible Reading Fellowship Notes. These booklets
provide a short Bible passage for each day with notes and comments and
many people find them a helpful way of exploring the Bible
further. The cost for a year, which gives you 3 issues starting in
May, is £10.50. If you are already on the subscription list, I shall
continue to order for you unless you have told me otherwise. Anyone
who is interested in starting a subscription or would like to know
more, please contact Janice Venables on 376535.
CTK LENT GROUPS
Please sign the list at the back of the Church before
February 11th if you would like to join one of the Lent Groups. The
study material will be based on the York Course for 2007 and is

CTK MEETING ON YOUTH WORK Tue 27th Feb
An important meeting is planned for all who have a concern for the

considering the possibility of providing a community youth worker.
There will be a meeting to discuss this on Tuesday 27 February at
8.00pm at Kidlington Baptist Church. This has been arranged by CTK
(Churches Together in Kidlington).
It is important that all the churches be well represented.
The questions to be considered include:
(i)
Is there a need to provide for the young people of Kidlington?
(ii)
What is the current provision for youth work?
(iii)
What can we learn from other projects?
A report will be given of a visit to Base 33, the Witney Ecumenical Trust.
(iv)
What form of youth work should the churches provide?
(v)
What would it cost?
