Kidlington CalendarThe Kidlington Calendar is the monthly magazine of the Churches Together in Kidlington. Before 1973, the Church of England's Parish magazine did contain news from other churches and village organisations but in 1973 the PCC suggested to the Council of Churches that a new magazine should be published under the auspices of the Kidlington Council of Churches. This new magazine has continued for the past 33 years serving the village and reaching out to those not connected with the churches. Since those early days when the magazine cover price was 5p, production costs have risen and it is only with the revenue from advertisers and the voluntary work of approximately 75 helpers that the magazine can continue.One most important position held by one of those volunteers is that of Advertising Manager. Doris Tresise has filled the position most ably but now has decided she must pass on the work to another willing supporter. Advertising is important for any newspaper and magazine for two reasons. The first lets people know about services available locally, and, we hope the local traders receive more business. The second is to help pay for the cost of producing the magazine.
