Next Bishop of Oxford

As I am sure you will know, it was announced this week that the Rt Revd John Pritchard, Bishop of Jarrow is to be the next Bishop of Oxford.

I have known John for many years and I am delighted he will be joining us here in the Diocese. John has a special interest in mission and evangelism, and in new ways of framing and expressing the gospel. He is a man of prayer, with a great knowledge of the scriptures. He is committed to world development issues and their relation to national and personal choices. He has an enthusiasm for equipping people to be everyday disciples, and has long been involved in training for ministry. I know he will be a strength and an inspiration to us all. We hope that John and his wife Wendy will be coming to Oxford in June and we look forward to welcoming them as they begin their ministry among us. Please remember them in your prayers over the coming months.
