REV MARGOT HODSON

Margot has been curate of Grove Parish Church since September 2001. Prior to that she worked for over 11 years with Church's Ministry among the Jewish People (CMJ), where her main role was as Education Adviser – training staff and teaching Christians about the Jewish roots to Christianity. For much of her time with CMJ, she was also editor of Shalom Magazine and a director of Olive Press.

Margot comes from Somerset where her parents, brother, sisters and their families still live.  Growing up in a country area gave her a love for the natural world and her original ambition was to be a nature conservationist! While studying Geography at Bristol University, she reaffirmed her Christian faith and experienced a call to Christian work. After teaching for four years in two West Country comprehensives, she trained for Christian ministry at All Nations Christian College where she became fascinated with the Jewish roots to the Christian faith.

Margot lived for several years in North London, and then moved to Oxfordshire in the mid-1990s to marry her husband, Martin, who is an academic. Martin is a plant biologist and they are both members of Sage, Oxford's Christian Environmental group. Martin became a Christian at Christ Church in the Old City of Jerusalem in the mid-1980s, while he was working in research at the Hebrew University. Before moving to Grove they were active members of St Clement’s, Oxford.

Margot took further training for the ordained ministry the St Albans and Oxford Ministry Course. She has written a number of books and packs including A Feast of Seasons - a book to help Christians understand and celebrate biblical festivals - and Jerusalem's Story - a set of home group Bible studies.
