2001 marked the 25th Anniversary year of the foundation of St. Nicholas' Community Church. It has been sited in several venues including the local primary school and its present venue at the Village Hall in the housing estate that it serves. Emmbrook is predominantly a mid-60's development, interspersed with older housing, with a total of about 1200 dwellings. In the small area covered there is one industrial estate of about thirty small companies and a number of other individual companies scattered around Emmbrook. There is also a limited amount of local shops, along with a nursery, infant and primary, and two secondary schools. The Community Priest at St. Nicholas' church has had regular involvement in the local community groups and the residents' association. As a result of the Mission, a number of pastoral groups were put into place that include ministry in the areas of bereavement, marriage, baptism and sick visiting. This has also led to the development of chaplaincies to local schools and the industrial estate.
