Friends of Drayton Beauchamp Church

St. Mary the Virgin

There has been a Christian church on this site in the village of Drayton Beauchamp since the 11th century.  The present church was built mainly in the 15th century and has been described as "one of the most beautiful churches in Buckinghamshire.".

The Friends of Drayton Beauchamp Church was formed during 1999 is  an association of people who love this church and wish to see worship here continue for generations to come.

Work on the conservation of the church began in May 2000 with the renewal of the roofs to the tower and nave, the treatment of timbers for death-watch beetle and the improvement of the rainwater disposal. This first phase is now complete and our next projects include repair of the masonry and re-pointing, the conservation of the windows some of which are priceless medieval treasures, the conservation of the Norman Font, and the installation of a modern heating system.

A fuller report on the conservation may be found on the St. Mary's web site
