CONSERVATION
It is over two years since  the Parochial Church Council received the offer of a grant towards the cost of recasting and relaying the tower and nave lead roof coverings, treating the death watch beetle in the roof timbers of the Church and improving the rainwater disposal. The offer was made by the Conservation Department of the Heritage Lottery Fund / English Heritage Joint Grant Scheme.
Following this, as the result of an appeal to The Idelwild Trust, we were delighted to receive a cheque for £1,500 towards restoration of the Norman Font. The Francis Coales Charitable Foundation also responded to our appeal and provided the balance of the funding.

Further substantial and generous grants have been received from Bucks Historic Churches Trust, The Historic Churches Preservation Trust and The Chase Charity.

Together with our own fund-raising efforts which included a highly successful Charity Golf Day organised by The Friend's of Drayton Beauchamp Church, a Summer Music concert now in its 12th year, luncheon parties, plant sales and regular participation in the annual Bucks Historic Churches Trust Cycle Ride, sufficient money has been forthcoming for the re-leading of the roof, the timber treatments and for drainage works to be completed and a modern heating system installed in the Church.  The previous infra-red heaters helped for the weekly services but did nothing to benefit the fabric of the building.

If you visit St. Mary's today, you will see that the windows, some of them containing the original 15th century stained glass, should be repaired, and outside there are very substantial masonry and pointing repairs needed.

Hopefully, further funds can be raised, but because we are small in number, we are going to need as much help as we can get!  So if you have a fundraising suggestion, do let one of the Churchwardens know.
