Will our Children Have a Future?
Bob Reitemeier, Chief Executive, The Children’s Society
7.30pm Wednesday, November 11th
A Heart for Humanity
Caroline Cox, Baroness Cox of Queensbury, the House of Lords
Bob Reitemeier
In the seven years in his role as Chief Executive of The Children’s
Society Bob has led the transformation of the charity’s work to
re-enforce its commitment to the most disadvantaged and making
childhood better for children in the UK. Bob oversaw the highly
successful Good Childhood Inquiry, which has strengthened the Society’s
position as a thought-leader in the sector. Its findings were published
in readable book form as A Good Childhood: Searching for Values in a Competitive Age
(£9.99). Copies will be on sale during the evening. Before joining the
Society Bob built up over twenty years’ experience in the voluntary
sector, mostly in Africa. Bob is a member of the Youth Justice Board,
and was a member of the 14-19 group which advised on the development of
the government’s ten-year Children’s Plan. Our conversation will explore
- What’s gone wrong?
- The challenges and choices for parents
- What is a good childhood?
- Is there a spiritual dimension?
- What lies ahead?
